Our quality assurance starts in the field, where we monitor the water and soil content and introduce only federally approved fertilizers and pesticides. We rely on the use of beneficial insects to provide biological controls and minimize the use of chemicals.
From our farms to the store our quality assurance team constantly reviews our practices. We don't stop there. Davis Fresh Technologies, a leading food safety accrediting organization, conducts random third-party inspections to verify that our practices are among the safest in the industry. Southern Selects products are proud to carry ProSafe certification.
We have Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs, and more, in place to insure the sanitation of our personnel and our facilities. At Southern Specialties we diligently strive to maintain the highest food safety standards.
FOOD SAFETY AT HOME
We strongly endorse following these basic sanitary practices in the kitchen:
- Wash hands with soap and water before handling food.
- Clean work surfaces with hot soapy water and dry using paper towels or clean cloths.
- Clean utensils and dishes with hot soapy water before preparing each food item.
- Wash ALL produce under cool running water.
- Cover and refrigerate produce you have cut.
- Discard old or wilted product.
- Maintain a clean, cold refrigerator. Harmful bacteria can grow in an environment over 41 degrees.
